- Our approach
Hormonal change during pregnancy prepares women for the most important moment in their life. It is quite common to experience joint pain (i.e., wrist or knee pain), or pain in the cervix or waist. Our clinical experience has shown that physiotherapy is enough to soothe the symptoms but not the real source of pain. From an orthopaedic clinical point of view the pain stems from the efforts of each body to cope with biochemical balance adjustments. In these cases, medical exercise that aims to minimize the body’s free radicals and oxidases could assist the milder adaption of the body.
Consequently, it could be argued that it is possible to apply a simple consulting program which will allow you to reduce symptoms without spending too much time or money.
Meanwhile, there are cases where the source of pain is an orthopaedic issue that pre- existed the pregnancy and need to be treated through physiotherapy. Statistics aside, they should be diagnosed with the help of special differential diagnosis’ orthopaedic tests which may enlighten pregnant women on what to avoid during pregnancy. Specifically for this group of women, the therapist should treat them post delivery and after hormonal balanced has prevailed. Momentum is different for each woman, however, clinical tests and their medical history may determine whether symptoms stem from orthopaedic conditions or not.
