- Our approach
Rheumatic arthritis is a chronic systematic inflammatory disease with symptoms like articular follicle inflammation and on the rest of the joint parts accompanied by joint pain, puffiness and stiffness. It mainly stems from genetics, climate, diet, stress, hormonal disorders and more. Like every autoimmune rheumatic disease, symptoms have their peaks and plains. Physiotherapy has a dual role. During the outbreak period, decrease of pain and edema is imperative in order to avoid permanent damage, like the indurations of the deformity articular follicle
At Physiolysis Centre this is achieved with a combination of acupuncture, manual therapy techniques and osteopathy.
During the remission period our main goal is to preserve the joint movement span and the flexibility of the muscles. This can be achieved through a customized exercise and stretching program that can be easily performed even outside our premises. The ultimate objective is to help the patient enjoy everyday life to the extend the disease allows them to.
The patient suffering from rheumatic arthritis must not depend his autonomy on his physiotherapist. Instead, the therapist should be the catalyst for the patients’ maintenance of quality of life.
