- Where does Rheumatoid arthritis stem from?
- Which are the symptoms?
- Our approach
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic systematic inflammatory disease mainly indicated by joint capsule inflammation as well as in other joint parts, joint pain, swelling and joint stiffness. The disease may be hereditary or derive from climate conditions, nutrition, anxiety, hormonal malfunctions and more.
Symptoms, just like in every rheumatoid disease, have their peaks and plains. Physiotherapy plays a double sided role in this case, treating and preventing. Treating the symptoms, for example the swelling and the pain, and preventing permanent core damages, like broadening the joint capsulewhich would impact the trajectory of the joint movement.
Our approach at Physiolysis Physiotherapy Centre is to treat rheumatoid arthritis with a combination of acupuncture, manual therapy and osteopathy. During the remission period of the symptoms our main goal is to preserve a wide span of movement and muscle flexibility as much as possible. Every objective will be conquered through a mild customized exercise program containing stretches and auto mobilization exercises that can also be applied at home.
The ultimate goal is to offer the patient the means to enjoy the qualities of life to the desired degree. The physiotherapist in this case must be the instigator not the “walking stick” of the patient.
