Research has shown that riding a bike while listening to music that you love will allow you to perform better compared to cyclists that do not enjoy the music at they are listening to (Nakamura P. Metal, 2010).

 

The mean time we dedicate for our workout regime is limited; hence we must be vigilant and chose a sport that suits our needs well.

 

Cycling is among the top athletic options that offer us strength and cardiovascular stamina. However, we must never neglect warm up!

 

Emotional lift aside, it seems that cycling also offers:

1. The regeneration of the cartilage within the ankle, knee and the hip joint
2. Quicker drainage of an inflammation that might appear in the above mentioned joints
3. Fast recovery of the active and passive range of motion after immobilization (surgical or conservative)
4. The gradual stimulation and alignment of muscle fibers after a lower limb strain.

Given the fact that cyclists suffer from lower back issues and knee issues (Clarsenetal, 2010) and the fact that long-term sitting burdens the lower back extremely, it is vital to shape the bike seat accordingly. Rest bars are essential during cycling as they drop the pressure against the spinal disc and they support the body in the right position.

 

It is important to mention that the rest barsmust be installed in the proper height so that it allows the torso to have the proper angle. Finally, the comparison with professional athletes is not beneficial because their goal is high performance whereas for the rest of us cycling is a fun activity or means of transportation.
