Winter sports (ski, snowboard): Injury & Rehabilitation

  • How fast is someone allowed to return to his favorite sport post injury?
  • General criteria

 

The most common question from a snow athlete (ski, snowboard) we get is how soon they can return to their sports activities after an injury. The answer depends on the type and the magnitude of the injury (i.e. muscular, commissural or bone), the location of the injury (upper or lower limb), the rehabilitation process and the overall shape.

 

However, there are some criteria the athlete must comply in order to recover:
1. Lack of edema and pain
2. Completion of the natural healing process of the injury (i.e. 6 weeks for a strain Grade II)
3. Completion of the running and exercise simulation program without any pain or edema.
