“In every step of my way I feel as if my skin stretches open”
A common feeling enough to remind you to check your sole and the way you walk (biomechanics). During the clinical examination it is imperative to test the application of the orthotic sole. The determinant factor to measure the orthotic sole is the strain on your sole while walking and the free movement of your hallux. Furthermore, It is important to measure the foot movement while you are supine lying down, standing up straight and while pacing (see photo).
These measurements will allow us to determine the rear sole angle of the orthotic sole so that it can push the metatarsus to a neutral position, pushing, in turn, the hallux flexor to relax and thus, allow the hallux to move freely and reduce the strain onto the plantar fasciitis.
