Runners… Which sport suits us best?

Runners… Which sport suits us best?

  • What are the dangers?
  • Our approach

The number of individuals that take up running is continually increasing nowadays. This has also increased the number of injury incidents and our goal is to reduce this statistic. It may sound strange but not everyone is fit to run. It is possible that the 3 ground rules that apply to running, i.e. appropriate shoes, healthy diet and suitable workout program, may not be enough to protect everyone’s body. A musculoskeletal screening will allow you to find the most suitable type of training for your body.

Choosing running activities we may opt for various tempo and distances. This option is defined by our own body characteristics that rise after a musculoskeletal screening of the athlete.

A professional musculoskeletal screening test in combination with the athletes’ medical history is enough to predict the type and the frequency of possible musculoskeletal injuries. Muscle power, muscular flexibility tests (concerning muscles that are heavily used during running) and span of joint movement are some of the measurements that can be calculated as well.

Moreover, once we take note of the aforementioned measures we compare it with the performance of the athlete thus far or future performance goals. These measurements will determine which sport is most suitable for them. The best option it the sport that will allow them to engage with less injury possibilities and boast ascending performance.
